Do you have to live in Canton, Northville or Plymouth to be a member of the BeckRidge Chorale or Cherry Hill Singers?
No, our membership is drawn from communities throughout southeastern lower Michigan.
What kind of music does the Chorale perform?
We perform a wide variety of music from contemporary to sacred. Music is selected with an audience in mind and is intentionally inspirational, entertaining and educational.
When and where does the chorale rehearse? When and where does Cherry Hill Singers rehearse?
The BeckRidge Chorale rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at First United Methodist Church on North Territorial Road in Plymouth. Cherry Hill Singers rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Village Theatre in Canton.
Is there an age requirement for membership in the BeckRidge Chorale? What about Cherry Hill Singers?
With the exception of scholarship recipients, members of the BeckRidge Chorale must be at least 18 years of age. We do not accept members younger than 16 unless approved by the Artistic Director and Administrative Board. Membership in the Cherry Hill Singers is open to anyone 16 years of age and older.
Are members required to pay dues?
Yes, dues are $120.00 per year.
How much does it cost to purchase concert attire?
Women in the BeckRidge Chorale can expect to spend approximately $100.00 for concert dresses. The men’s tuxedo, shirt, tie and vest for the BeckRidge Chorale cost approximately $125.00. If necessary, a payment plan can be arranged. At this time, no formal attire has been selected for Cherry Hill Singers.
Where are concerts held?
Concerts take place at Northville High School on Six Mile Road in Northville, Michigan and at the Village Theatre located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road in Canton, MI.
What if I cannot attend every rehearsal?
Members are permitted six absences per year. The last three rehearsals prior to a concert are mandatory. Members who are going to miss more than six rehearsals or miss a mandatory rehearsal or any concert performance must submit their request in writing to the Artistic Director/Conductor for approval.
Is there an opportunity to sing solo?
Yes. Quite often, choral music contains solo lines. In addition, we feature individual solos at nearly every concert. Solo auditions are open to all members and are conducted privately with the Artistic Director and Accompanist.
How do I become a member of Village Voices?
Members of Village Voices must first be a member of the BeckRidge Chorale. If a position becomes available in Village Voices, auditions are announced. Auditions for Village Voices are conducted with all current members of Village Voices, the Artistic Director and Accompanist.
Are contributions to the Chorale tax deductible?
Yes, the BeckRidge Chorale is a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization.
